Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the most visited cities in the Central European region, becoming a popular travel destinations after the fall of the Iron Curtain. TravelPrague has been one of the few European cities that have remained relatively intact during the World Wars. A clear example is that most of its historical architecture has been preserved. Crossed by the Vltava River, it is located in the heart of the Bohemian region. This is the main reason why it is adjectival as "bohemian", but perhaps also because Prague, is the hometown of several writers, among them, the great Franz Kafka. Spring is the best time to visit Prague, when temperatures range between 8 and 14 °c. April and early May, they are also propitious when temperatures reach between 15 and 25 °c. The cozy literary cafes are the most common in Prague, a must-have place to stop and soak up the culture and history of this magnificent city. Interesting to visit, is its beautiful historic center, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage in the year 1992. In the year 2000, the European Community granted the title to Prague of European Capital of Culture. Prague Castle is the other compelling attraction to see in Prague, as is the Charles Bridge, the Church of Our Lady of Ty´n, the astronomical clock, the Temple of St. Nicholas and the square of Malá Strana. One of the characteristics of the city is that it is full of parks, gardens and all kinds of green spaces. Parks such as the Vrtba Garden or Kampa Island are a must see in the city of Prague. Like so many other European cities, Prague also has its modern side, and the same, can be enjoyed from the modernist route, guided tour that starts from Wenceslas Square. Also in the tourist guide of Prague, we have the literary route and the route of the palaces and castles. This is particularly advisable to make, as it will allow you to enjoy the rich monumental heritage of Prague. In this city, there is also a place for leisure. A wide range of theatres, with its famous black theatre, numerous shows and concert halls, where the opera and the Czech Philharmonic stand out, and countless museums and art galleries, make Prague a very attractive metropolis to visit.
